Simple Response Belief
When faced with alternative hypotheses of how to respond to a complex adaptive problem, other things being equal, we should always test the simplest hypothesis first. This belief relates directly to the Start Simple principle.
This belief has evolved as a response to observed management behaviour in many different organisations. It is a restatement of Occam’s Razor phrased as a corollary to the Complexity Belief of Simon Powers. It also aligns with the Proactive Belief that Powers describes as:
[giving] one a direction in which to travel to solve complex problems
